9/7/97 to 9/28/97 The First International Fibromyalgia Awareness Event
was a Success! Christopher Huybrechts, a Swiss triathlete, biked 1200 miles across
the USA, on Route 66, starting in Chicago on 9/7/97, with the Finish Line
Event at the Santa Monica Pier in California on 9/28/97 to raise money &
awareness for Fibromyalgia. Dr. Stuart Silverman, Medical Director of the
Fibromyalgia Program at Cedars Sinai Hospital, was the guest speaker at the
Finish Line Event.

This event, which was sponsored by the National Fibromyalgia Awareness
Campaign, and the Geneva Mutual-Aid Against Rheumatism, will be the catalyst
for many more Fibromyalgia Awareness Projects. Thanks to all who

8/26/97 Phila Pa Area PCOM is holding an Fm program from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in room 223, Rowland Hall, City Line Avenue. A video about FM (from the
Arthritis Foundation) will be shown, and Dr. Kathleen Novak will speak about
research about fibromyalgia. Robin Klawansky will talk about living with FM
and some coping techniques, and Sue Rowlands will speak about FM support
groups and their services and about the services of the Arthritis Foundation
relating to FM.
