Matthew Rems
On May 22nd 2005, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Abington, Matthew T. Rems and the Rems family celebrated Matt’s becoming an Eagle - a time-honored family tradition. Matthew’s father, Brian and older brother Brian, both achieved their Eagle Award and both also did it, like Matt, as members of Troop 72, which is in Overlook Hills/ Roychester, Abington Township.
For his Eagle Project, Matthew rebuilt the nature center at Upper Moreland High School. This included building new benches and clearing out the area . Among his scouting activities, Matt served as Patrol Leader, Senior Assistant Patrol Leader and Junior Assistandt Scoutmaster. He participated in many summer camp activities and enjoyed the scouting High Adventure Cycling trip from Canada to Watkins Glen, New York.
Matthew is currently a senior at Uppermoreland High School and played varsity football for three years . He made Suburban One honorable mention last year and this year was selected to participate in the Montgomery County Annual All-Star football game that will be held Memorial Day weekend . Matthew works for the Upper Moreland School District as a visual technician. His futre plans include attending Delaware Valley College and continuing to play football, while planning a career in landscape design.
