Troop 72

Christopher T. Simpson

On January 16, 2005 at the North Penn Post in North Hills, Pa. Christopher T. Simpson of Boy Scout Troop 72 received the coveted rank of Eagle.

Chris declared his goal of Eagle Scout after attending the  ceremony of a fellow Scout member.  He was thrilled with the idea of earning such a prestigious award. On the path of this goal, Chris has built an  impressive career holding many Scout leadership positions, such as Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Instructor, and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.  He has attended summer camp for over 6 years and has been on the Camp Staff for the last two summers. Chris’ attendance at numerous other camping trips has taught him many survival skills as well as life enrichment skills.  High adventure trips, such biking as much as 60 miles a day around Lake Ontario &  Niagara Falls or kayaking the islands off the coast of Maine have further added to his wealth of experience.

Chris’ involvement  in activities outside of Scouting shows a well-rounded dedication to building a healthy spirit, mind, and body.   Included among these are Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Lacrosse, Class Council, Outdoors Club, Junior Varsity Football, Alternative Sports Club, and Key Club.  He is also  a recipient of the Presidential Service Award and the Bronze Medal Congressional Award. In addition Chris serves as a firefighter with the Abington Fire Company and recently joined the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad in Willow Grove.

Chris has expressed appreciation to his scout masters and mentors, for the many benefits he has received through Scouting.  He knows knowledge and experience gained will help him achieve his future goals which include going to college to study emergency services and engineering. He is currently a junior at Abington Senior High School.

In December of 2003 Chris organized a collection of care packages that were sent to our troops in Iraq for his Eagle Project.   He received tremendous support from many of his peers, scout leaders,  and neighbors who displayed such kindness and generosity.  The military troops were very pleased with his efforts.
