Moving on to Boy Scouts for the  next seven years,  he attended meetings, went on trips, and earned merit badges while on the trail to Eagle.  Ernst had held the positions of Troop Librarian, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Scribe, Inspector, Senior Patrol Leader, and is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop72.  He is also an Ordeal Member in the Order of the Arrow.  He completed his ordeal at Resica Falls Scout Reservation, as well as merit badges such as snorkeling, the mile swim, and BSA life guarding.  This summer he intends to go to Resica Falls as an adult to guide the younger scouts on their trail to Eagle.

Ernst’s Eagle Project to return something to his community consisted of coordinating the collection and sorting of a can food drive.  The food had been collected at the Abington and Willow Grove Post Offices.  He transported the food from the post offices to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church located in Abington, PA.  From there Ernst and his volunteers sorted over 4,782 items taking about 136 hours.  The food was stored at a food bank called Interfaith located at Holy Trinity.
