Matthew George Wisniewski was honored in a ceremony on Saturday, November 30, 2002 at St Catherine of Sienna Church in Hatboro, as an Eagle Scout with Troop 72 of the Boy Scouts of America.

To earn his Eagle, the journey started a long time ago and took Matt through many phases of scouting that included positions as Bugler (for which he is most famous), Patrol Leader, Scribe, Leadership Staff Member, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and Assistant Scout Master.  His Training has included Patrol Leader Development Training and Troop Leader Training, and he is an Ordeal Member of the national scouting honor society, the Order of the Arrow.  He has participated in many scouting activities such as High Adventure trips biking in Cape Cod and canoeing on the Allagash River in Maine.  His many scouting accomplishments were capped off by his Eagle project that was construction of a bird blind, feeding and viewing area for the Jarrett Nature Center, Hatboro-Horsham's Outdoor Classroom.

In addition to his scouting activities, Matt has excelled academically as an honor roll and distinguished honor roll student at Hatboro-Horsham High School, having received special achievement awards in Math, American Literature, and US History.  As a member of Marching Band, he was selected Baritone Section Leader for the 2002 season, granted the Hatter Pride Award twice for his contributions to the band, and was chosen to perform a solo in the 2002 production.  He is also First Chair Baritone in the Concert Band and was selected to participate in the Montco Band, an honors band.   He also has been a participant in the Greater Philadelphia Partnership Program, and a leader in the high school's Senior-Freshman Mentoring Program.

Besides these accomplishments, Matt is active in his church as a member of the youth group and serves as an Acolyte.  He also has worked at the Gwynedd Estates Retirement Home where he was employee of the Quarter and at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club.

At Saturday's ceremony in front of family, friends and fellow Scouters, Matt and fellow Eagle, Ryan Bloome, heard messages of congratulations from many local & national dignitaries. The ceremony was also marked by a special award and presentation from the Montgomery County Detachment of the Marine Corps League, who also donated a check to the Cradle of Liberty Council, BSA in the honor of the two young men.
