Brian Patrick McClure
On April 14th at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in
Abington, Pa, Brian Patrick McClure of Scout Troop 72 received the
coveted rank of Eagle, in a ceremony also attended by Brian's
Grandfather, Vernon I. McClure, age 86, who earned his Eagle Award in 1931.
After completing Cub Scouts, and earning
his Arrow of Light award, Brian invested seven more
active years in scouting to earn Eagle recognition. At Resica Falls Scout
Reservation each summer he earned many of his 26 Merit Badges and
had a variety of rewarding experiences including a year as a Guide Scout
and his Ordeal and Induction into the Order of the Arrow. Brian's
other leadership positions have included: Patrol Leader, Senior
Patrol Leader, and Junior Assistant Scout Master. Brian has also been the top
salesman for three years in a row in the Troop's Annual Lawn and Garden Fund
Raiser.
For his Eagle Project, Brian coordinated
and managed a collection of clothing, construction tools, medical supplies and
school supplies to benefit the hurricane victims in Honduras. This
project employed the help of many scouts in well over 100 hours of collecting,
sorting, and preparing items to be shipped to Honduras.
Currently a senior at Abington High School,
Brian has been a member of the Marching Band for three years, has participated
in both the concert and symphonic ensembles throughout his high school career,
been an honor roll student, member of the National Junior Honor Society and a
recipient of the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic
Achievement.
Employed at Papa John's Pizza in Willow
Grove, Brian has recently been promoted to a manager position. He has
been accepted to Penn State University, main campus, where he will begin
classes this June upon his graduation.
