
OUTSTANDING YOUNG ABINGTON MAN HONORED
On Sunday June 3rd at Holy Trinity Church, Carl Taylor III was honored for becoming the 140th Eagle Scout from Troop 72 in Abington Township. Carl entered the scouting program in first grade as a Tiger Cub and as he progressed into the Boy Scouts, where he earned 27 merit badges and held a variety of leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Instructor and Junior Assistant Scout Master.
Carl attended Ressica Falls Camp each summer as a Scout and among his other camping experiences, he treasures a 1999 High Adventure trip where he enjoyed the view from the top of Mount Washington. For his Eagle project, Carl led a group of friends and troop members to accomplish the task of painting street addresses on the curbs of neighborhood homes to assist emergency vehicles.Carl is an honor roll student at Abington High School where he has been involved in the Debate Club, Amnesty International, Key Club, Class Council, Student Council and the World Affairs Forum Club. He plays the cello in the orchestra and writes for the school newspaper. He hopes to pursue a pre-law curriculum when he enters college.
