What was the Huntingdon
Valley Bluegrass Slow Jam ?
The sessions would cover jam etiquette, how to kick off a song, lead a
song, take a break and end a song at the same time - working with basic song
sheets with lyric and chord notations and typical
bluegrass which include guitar, five-string banjo, fiddle, dobro, mandolin, harmonica, autoharp and
standup bass. ( With the possible
exception of the electrical bass, by and large, electrical instruments and drums
do not make an appearance ) A good voice
was always welcome, with or without an instrument!
Of course, most old timey instruments are a good bluegrass fit.

The "Slow Jam" was
designed help the beginning jammer learn the give and take of a jam session.
The jam was best suited for the acoustical musician who had learned to
change chords smoothly with moderate speed. A
strap and a music stand were helpful companions - to accommodate either sitting
or standing sessions.
