In August '02 - John was headed on his way - cross country with his
wife (and of course, his banjo, autoharp and harmonicas) in a trailer.
( We heard
that Susan took an extra car .... could the BANJO have something to do with that
!????)
But Not wanting to miss an opportunity to thank John for all he had done
the jammers came out one night - bearing special gifts ...... is it a
wonder that most of them were..... cabbages ( or related somehow to cabbage. ) Yes the jammers will always carry with them fond memories
of John's leadership, encouragement, humor, banjo licks and - yes - their
special evenings of ... well ... an unbelievable number of rounds of Bile Dem
Cabbage Down !!!! Ah, sweet tradition!

Rumors
were that this "seeing the country " thing were just a cover -
actually John was being sent off into the witness protection program . We
helped him out with a few great disguises
