THE PLAY IN A ROUND SOCIETY was founded by No Commitments circa 1999 with the purpose of sharing their get togethers with seniors. They soon learned that the old familiar tunes were always the biggest hits when the audience was there.

We could most frequently be seen at Summersgate in Jenkintown back then . The group took it's first hiatus & then merged in late August of '02 with the Huntingdon Valley Bluegrass Slow Jammers started by John McCarty also around 1999. The intention was to branch out from the Bluegrass and the music in the new group indeed covered most every genre - Oldies- Country - Bluegrass- Folk - Blues but retained a decidely Bluegrass flavor and we never lost the fondness for that good ol' Bluegrass Fakebook. On Wednesday nights we a full program of Oldies first.

We have fun learning new songs, new techniques and learning how to jam together. We welcome beginners - though the ability to get through a basic song while also looking up to follow the person leading is really a good starting guideline.   Some of our very accomplished players are finding this a great place to start out on a new instrument or practice a technique.
